    CZ Upgrade

New CZ owner here. Got a CZ 75 Compact just before everything closed up. Shot about 500 rounds thru it.

What is your thoughts on the minimum upgrades. Don't want a full custom upgrade.

And I've heard that dry firing is a no-no. Snap caps good?

Replace the hammer spring and extended firing fin. Much smoother and easier to shoot. Under 35 bucks.

And while you're at it replacing the firing pin, the firing pin retainer pin is a must. I'd also change the firing pin block safety spring with a reduced power one. I've done this on my 75BD and 75 PCR.

You can get all of these goodies from Cajun Gun Works: https://cajungunworks.com/

Video on why the retainer pin should be changed and how to do it... just don't pay close attention that the guy using a claw hammer to pound on the pin punch.

As for dry firing... the Achilles heel is that firing pin retainer pin, here's a great idea from youtuber Workthetrigger that's better than a snap cap.

He's got a bunch of very good vids, especially the "CZ Trigger Work" playlist, which is more than just trigger work.

What upgrades you start with depends on what you wish to improve about the trigger pull. Without knowing that it is hard to point you in the right direction to get the best value.

Replacing the firing Pin Retaining Pin is the best way to go for dry fire. I would change out this pin even if i never dry fired. The factory pin will eventually fail.

            61100 Firing Pin Retaining Pin

If you really want to avoid changing out parts you can install a buffer behind the Firing Pin for dry fire practice. This can increase the life of the factory FPRP, eventuality it may still fail. Snap caps are an option but they are not as effective at protecting the FPRP and they start to shed aluminum into the action with extended use.

OP...you should also consider getting a spare slide release. About $35. It is designed as a sacrifical wear item in order to protect the pistol frame can it can last after your grand kids pass it on to to their grand kids..

I took it to a cerakote place and had them grind it to look like the P-01 or PCR, as close as possible and repaint it.

                    something similar to this:
