    CZ P01 (help needed)

    Hello,

Newbie to guns and First post on the forum.

Currently not living in California but there is a strong possibility I will be there very near future.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in regards to CZ P01 SKU 01199 vs. SKU 91199

California Roster shows model number 01199 only for CZ P01.

From some search, I read the followings:
    - The only difference is the magazine capacity.
    - Some FFL in CA will be ok with 91199 as long as it has 10RD Mag instead of 14RD.
    - The box or the gun does NOT show SKU/Model number.

    Questions:

-Can any Law Enforcement office or other authority call CZ Manufacturer with marking or serial number on the actual gun to get exact SKU/model number its associated with?

-Does CZ keep record of which Serial goes to which SKU?

I’m just trying to understand how big of deal and common this is...I mean are there many 91199 currently in California with 10RD mag? or is it not worth the hassle?

Thank you very much for hep!

Your correct, there's no difference in the gun between the SKU's, and only a difference in which magazines come with it.

It sounds as though you already own the 91199 SKU firearm and want to bring it with you to California? If that is correct, then you may bring the firearm but cannot bring the greater than 10 round capacity magazines.

The California Roster only determines what can be bought and sold in California, not what is legal to possess. So the actual SKU of the gun doesn't matter in the slightest if you already own it.

Without knowing the details I can't really help out any further.

If you are still a resident of some other state, buy all the off roster handguns you might want later. Once you move you won’t be able to find many off roster models, even on the PPT marketplace. Maglocked Dracos, maglocked AR pistols, Sig P210, 6” 10mm 1911’s, etc. And if you do find one in the PPT marketplace it will cost double the MSRP.

buy the off roster roster stuff you may want now, then it is fine to bring it with you, No threaded barrels for pistols though.
Do not buy too much though in hopes of selling the guns for twice MSRP. CA limits gun sale to 5-6 per calendar year.

            First, welcome to Calguns!

Now look - when you move here you can bring anything, the roster DOES NOT MATTER. You are totally over-thinking this Cz SKU business.

You just cannot bring mags over 10rd, or pistols or rifles with assault weapon features.

Plenty of people here own off roster guns. It is not illegal to own or posess an off roster gun. It is not illegal to carry an off roster gun if you have CA CCW.

So forget the roster, it does not apply to you right now as a person moving here.

You can (and must) register your off roster guns (and all your other guns) when you move here. After you move here, yes the roster will affect what you can buy from dealers. But there are still other ways to legally obtain off roster guns here.

So bring what you want when you move. Off roster guns are very expensive to acquire here, better to acquire them before you get here.

After you get here and settled in, if you are looking to acquire another Cz or anything else, then come talk to us and we can clear up any questions you have about the roster, SKUs, mag substitutions etc.

Thank you SkyHawk for your explanation! (Btw, I miss C172)

Thanks everyone else who chimed in here.

It looks like old thread discussing and stress over model/SKU numbers were people already living in California.

I’m glad I joined and asked these questions. Until now and as a newbie, I thought to only get what was on the roster so I didn’t have to rid of them before moving ... quite the opposite it seems.

It looks like I need to take advantage of living in a free State and collect as much as I can before moving

              Cheers all!

                Yeah!

CZ, TacSport Orange and DWX looks to be hot currently.
Glock 17/19 Gen5 or 43/48 are some to look into.
Colt M45A1 or something in their competition series looks okay.
                Ruger PC Charger looks nice.
SIG P320 / HK VP9/ Walther PPQ are nice fantastic plastic.
One or two nice 10mm is something to consider.

Just start another thread, what would you get if you were off roster, lol. I am sure you will get a ton of recommendations. Load up, maybe you get bored of one of them and can sell it off here.

Good luck, I am sure stock is low in the free world as well.
