CZ Shadow 2 - first impressions

Hey folks. I got a chance to shoot a CZ Shadow 2 from On Target's off-roster rental board and it did NOT disappoint.

The 1st target with the smaller grouping is 10 shots from 7 yards. The second bigger groups are about 20 shots from 10-ish yards.

I was adjusting new sights on my GP100 so a lot of the flyers are my bad DA shooting and getting sights dialed in, but there it is.

Man alive this thing was a smooth shooter. I felt a lot of 'bounce' from the reciprocating mass of the slide more than recoil from the rounds, nothing a tight grip can't fix. It's 46 ounces or so. Not a light pistol, but it hit what you aimed at every time. It was just... awesome.

Shadow 2 is an awesome pistol. But oddly enough I enjoy shooting my 75B more. It annoys me on how far the mag release sticks out and to me it should recoil less on how heavy it is. Not saying it is snappy, just seems like it will be less.

          Nice!!! Absolutely get one!!!

I got my CZ Shadow 2 last year... Thanks to @beanz2... To paraphrase, buy once and cry once...

Yeah, it definitely feels like cheating. For a stock pistol, it feels precise. With the slide design and overall weight - with a good grip, there barely any felt recoil.

Being a Glock shooter, I took it to ITTS' "Master Class" as a 'handicap' (maybe???) - shooting out to 240-yards freestyle standing, and winning the "Man on Man," (which has a draw to a 50-yard array).

Albeit, the grip feels a bit awkward/unstable for me in action shooting... No fault of the pistol - it's mostly me being used to the blockiness of a Glock. I still have to go through a few grips which fit my hand better, though.

Here are a couple of my groups (standing freestyle). Around 3-inches, I would say...

            Yes, it is an Orange.

And yes, VERY soft, almost spongy recoil. Not snappy at all. I'll be +P rounds through this are a hoot.

CZ Shadow 2 - first impressions

I cannot afford the market price of the Shadow 2, not complaining So I took a different approach by upgrading my SP-01 and TS.

Can I pick your brains in "upgrading" an SP-01...?

Two (2) Shadow 2 can hurt the wallet...

                  Absolutely

Just FYI, that my friend was the one who ordered the parts. I did the swap-out. I believe I still have the original bags with part numbers on them.

I also made my own TSO. Well I had the sights installed by CZ Custom and the frame cerakoted locally. Slide still stock. So much for the good pictures on here.

I acquired a Shadow 2 last year, and have decided to move from my M&P 5" to it for competition shooting. Taking a little while to get used to the DA first shot, but it helped quite a bit when I put the CGW trigger reach reduction kit in.

And OP, if you think it was soft with factory loads, you should try it with 147gr. 132 power factor loads. It feels like cheating.

It is a larger gun. If you don't have at least medium-sized hands, it might be too big. I'm also having an issue getting the slide to lock back since my support hand is making contact with the slide release lever. But since it is for USPSA, I shouldn't be going to slide lock anyway.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.
