    Is AK pistol transferable?

One of my friends has one AK pistol before the ban. He wants to get rid of it. I couldn't find any information on it. So is it possible to transfer it to another person in California?

    Need more information.

Is it a Registered Assault Weapon?
^Then it can only be sold to a CA FFL dealer with an assault weapons permit or sold out-of-state through an out-of-state FFL dealer.

Is it a semi-auto AK pistol with just a "bullet button" style magazine release?
^Then it is considered an assault weapon and it is illegal to possess within CA [PC 30605(a)] and illegal to advertise for sale or transfer or transport within CA [PC 30600(a)].

Is it a semi-auto AK pistol with a fixed 10 round magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or that is permanently attached in the firearm's magazine well?
^Then it can be sold via PPT.

Is it a manually operated AK pistol?
^Then it can be sold via PPT.

It looks like a bullet button. The fact that you reference 'pre-ban' adds weight to that observation.

If there is no other mag lock device that requires the action to be disassembled to remove the mag, and it is semi auto, then it had better be a registered assault weapon or your buddy is holding on to a felony.

If it is a registered assault weapon, then it is not transferable. I would assume anyone who followed the law and registered it before the ban would know that.

Throw a comp mag on it and find a place that will do the transfer. As long as it’s not a registered AW, you should be fine with a comp mag installed. I see it’s a newer Romanian so you shouldnt have issues and you can take off the bullet button and throw on the comp mag to be legal.

If we bought this 4-5 years ago. We can still take it to the range right? Just leave bullet button on or something ?

Is t Tran the seller? Who is OP?

                  Answer the following...

#1. Is it a Registered Assault Weapon?
~If yes, then it is CA legal to possess and use in authorized locations within CA [PC 30945].
~If no, then go to #2.

#2. Is it a semi-auto AK pistol with a "bullet button" style magazine release or a standard magazine release?
~If yes, then it is an illegal assault weapon. Which means it's illegal (felony) to possess within CA [PC 30605(a)] and it's illegal to import or make or transport or advertise for sale or transfer within CA [PC 30600(a)].
~If no, then go to #3.

#3. Is it a semi-auto AK pistol with a fixed 10 round magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or that is permanently attached in the firearm's magazine well?
~If yes, then it is CA legal to possess and use within CA.
~If no, then go to #4.

                  #4. Is it a manually operated (bolt-action, lever-action, pump-action) repeating AK pistol?
~If yes, then it is CA legal to possess and use within CA.
~If no, then go to #5.

#5. Is it a dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot AK pistol?
~If yes then it is CA legal to posses and use within CA, as long as it remains configured as a dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistol.
~If no, then, then go to #6.

#6. Is it disassembled into parts?
~If yes, then it is CA legal to possess in CA. It's also prudent to transport or store the parts in seperate containers/locations while in CA.
*If the AK pistol was DROS'd as a "pistol, semi-auto" or "pistol, semi-auto, receiver/frame" or DROS'd before 2015 as a "pistol, single-shot", then those parts can be legally used to make a pistol meeting the requirements for #3 or #4.
*If the AK pistol was DROS'd after 2014 as a "pistol, single-shot" or "pistol, receiver/frame", then those parts can be legally used to make a pistol meeting the requirements for #5.

not if you can remove the mag without opening the action. And so at that point why bother with a 1 rd sled?

Does anyone know of an FFL dealer that can handle an "Assault Weapon" or has a permit to handle it? I'm having a really really hard time finding an FFL with this permit. Anybody know of a few?
