    Franklin Armory CA7, CA11, or CA12?

I was interesting in getting one of the Franklin armory ar pistols that are available in CA. I wanted to convert the upper to semi auto and install a mag lock. Which model would work best or what would be advantages/disadvantages to each?

    Thanks!

Get the CA7, it's chambered in 5.56/.223, which is widely available (during normal times) and cheaper than either 300 Blackout or 350 Legend.

Only reason to get one in .300 or .350 would be to leave it as stock for some kind of tiny manual-action hunting rig - which might only make sense to me!

Ballistically, 5.56 in a 7.5" barrel is not great, and the blast flash and noise is pretty intense.

5.56 not designed for barrels that short. Yes-of course it will still work-but not optimal.

300 black, even without a suppressor is substantially quieter and has less blast and concussion.

                It's designed for short barrels.

For this reason,I bought a complete 300 upper for my CA7,which was the only compliant model they had when I bought.

It's awesome shooting both supersonic and subsonic through the same gun.

Yes more expensive. Buy cheap-stack deep and reload too.

Didn't want to mod the stock 5.56 upper,so my plan is cmmg 22lr kit for it.

And if you are worried about the ammo availability/cost issue-which could be a legit worry, then add gas tube to the 5.56 upper as well.

In other words, proper answer is "both" or "all of the above".

Truth be told I am currently researching an additional short barrel upper for my CA7, in 458 Socom, which is also designed for short barrels.

                .

Follow the flow chart - okay to have a semiautomatic pistol with a threaded barrel as long as magazine is locked and holds 10 or less rounds.

Here some in stock, 2 left.

Franklin Armory® CA7™ is Approved on California Handgun Roster. The gun operates like a bolt-action (using charging handle as the "bolt") and does not require any type of maglock or bullet button.

Got mine from Prepper. Did you do the offer? I did and they gave it to me quite a bit cheaper!

No which offer? Unfortunately I didn't know about an offer and was excited to just find one available since the FA website says 6 week+. Probably too late now..
