    SIG Blackwater

Any owners out there who can provide a quick pro and con summary of the handgun in regards to accuracy and reliability?

    Thanks!

I don't own one but it basically a SIG P226 with fancy markings. The P226 is always accurate and reliable.

Isn't the Blackwater package just a cosmetic upgrade(Sights,SS Slide/extra grips)?

Since the P226 has a reputation as a durable accurate quality handgun. I'm going to assume the Blackwater package changes none of that.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

I own one of the early versions, with the red front sight. In most respects the Blackwater P226 is the same as the railed P226, except for the addition of front slide serrations and some other cosmetic stuff. Mine came with black wood grips, but I replaced them with Hogue wrape-around grips. I like it because it came with 5 standard cap magazines (got it while I was living in a free state). The major con is the front night sight which glows red. Red is a hard color to pick up in the dark, so it's definitely not the best front sight choice. Eventually I'll replace it with a green one, but that's pretty low on the priority list. I think the ones available now have a green night sight up front.

In terms of reliability and accuracy, It's the same as any P226--very accurate, and very reliable. I love mine. It hits what I aim at out to 50 yards easy and it eats everything I put in it. No feed nor ejection issues.

          very nice pistol.

          pros over standard 226:
          1- front sight
          2- short reset trigger

          cons:
          1- price
          2- wait (backorder)

they are nice, but for the price I would just go with the 226 with night sights and spend the rest on ammo or accessories

              Sorry to get slightly off-topic...

I know the regular Blackwater edition is CA-legal. What about the Blackwater Tactical?

I figure the tactical is not approved, but I'm hoping to hear otherwise.

Well since we are off topic now may I ask does Blackwater even use Sigs? I heard they used Glocks.

According to the Sig web site they are not making The tactical version Ca legal. I'm not sure what you are all seeing on Sig pricing but on Monday i found a 226 blackwater for 1089 and bought it. The p226R next to it was 949 so the difference in price is made up for in the mags mainly but that's what i'm seeing.

                    enjoy

I read somewhere that they changed ownership as well as their name to XE.

All they did was change the name.

Called SIG today concerning the standard BW version which they stated are no longer being mfg. the standard BW version. The Tactical version will not be submitted to CA DOJ due to the short reset trigger. Also, any BW you see out there for sale is pretty much it.

                            Thank you for the feedback.
