    THREADED BARREL

Emailed WILSON COMBAT about their Beretta 92 threaded barrel. Was informed that they have NO restrictions on sending one to California. Are such barrels legal to own. I live in the LA area.

Sure, if you can own it, but don't ever put it on the gun in Ca.

You can own it no problem, you just cannot install it UNLESS you permanently block the threads.

I would even be very careful to own-constructive possession with intent to build assault weapon.

If you want a compensator or similar, have it shipped to the gunsmith if you want to be extra careful.

I didn't think constructive possession applied to these though. Anyone have a reference?

No specific reason. Just curious. Thank you all...

I believe that the barrel has to be soldered, welded or pinned in order for it to be California Legal. California is crazy about this sort of stuff. If you want to put a compensator on it. Have the compensator installed and permanently attached before you have it delivered to you.

Over the years I keep reading here at Calguns that there is no such thing as a constructive possession in CA laws. For example, one can buy a 14.5" and a muzzle brake separately, but it does not constitute an SBR unless the 14.5" barrel is mounted on the rifle without the muzzle brake being pinned.

The threaded barrel, on a semi-auto pistol with a detachable magazine makes an "Assault Weapon" under California's Assault Weapon statute.

Please note the absence of any "Constructive Possession" language in the statute.

But also be aware of the People v Nguyen case decision which upheld Nguyen's conviction for the "Attempted Possession" of an Assault Weapon where he possessed the necessary parts to make an Assault Weapon, and where the prosecutor showed an intent to assemble, but had not yet assembled them into a weapon.

I would get one just in case I needed to defend my state from the Democrats
can always buy/get/make a can for it if needed
