Target Grips — helpful or hurtful?

I like them, the more fitted the better. Have a google at the grips used for olympic free pistol, almost like a glove.

I find it keeps the pistol from moving in my hand as much as without them.

I used to have a Hammerli fp with the full wrap grip. You actually stick your hand through the back. Once you adjust the palm shelf and the angles (some are grip angle adjustable) there’s nothing quite like it. It’s like pointing your finger and the bullet hits right there. Completely impractical for anything but target shooting though.

Cocobolo wood with thumb rest, Hogue grip with thumb rest and Volquartsen target grip on Ruger Mk II 22LR.
- Improve shooting experience - A lot, either one those three always on the pistol the original Ruger grips dugs somewhere in the spare parts box.
- Improve accuracy - Not much, because when I hold the pistol I used the other thumb as the thumb rest of the shooting hand so I always have the thumb rest.
- But if you shoot one hand then the thumb rest is a must have, no question to ask.

Nice! Olympic events are fun, but yes, the pistols aren't practical for other uses. But at least the events are still there. Wouldn't it be fun if practical pistol was in the Olympics?

Just curious who here regularly uses target grips specific to their shooting hand. Do you feel it genuinely improved your shooting experience and accuracy?

Yes and yes. I have a couple of Pardini's (22 and 32SWL), a Morini air pistol, and a Toz free pistol all with anatomical grips. Much steadier than my Gold Cup or Model 52 with the standard grips. I'll eventually be contacting Randall Fung for a set for the 52 (should have done that a long time ago), but I think I'll leave the Gold Cup the way it is.

The grips in question, of course, are for bullseye match style shooting - One hand, standing, unsupported. They are really clunky if shooting two handed (the angle between the strong arm and pistol is different shooting one vs two handed.)

Good luck with that. Free pistol was recently dropped from the Olympic lineup. A lot of the World Game type gatherings are dropping shooting sports altogether.
