Dros starts once the gun is in store and you fill out the paperwork.

Guns direct and Burbank guns and ammo had/have plenty of Glocks. Just have to make an appointment. Where you located?

You might have paid for something but you haven't purchased anything yet.

Yeah, it sounds like some shyster took you for a ride. There's no need to wait for a common gun. There are many California compliant Glock 17's available on Gunbroker. Buy on Gunbroker, ship to your FFL, he fills out the papers, ten days later you have your gun. Easy peasy. Go back to that gun store and tell them you found a gun and would like your money back.

PPTs are exempt from 1 in 30 except in the city of LA.

If you payed $499.99, just leave it as is. Have you seen the used market prices, lol. Just wait and get a new Glock.

Even Turners will not start paperwork without the gun in the store (they used to with just a serial number), so I doubt they did any background check. Plus considering the 3 week to 3 month lead time, it passes the 10-30 day pick up.

I have not filled out the ATF 4473. And I’m located in Tustin in Orange County so that would be a drive to Burbank but possible worth it if they have stock.

Look for PPT If you can. What gun store did you place an order from?

Just curious, why did you buy during this time, how much did you pay or that G17, and do you own any other firearms? These are genuine questions. I'm just curious.

Second, I say let it ride with that FFL and continue shopping around based on some of the recommendations above....if you can. Essentially, I'm saying make a second purchase. Your 1/30 hasn't started yet. No matter what platform catches your fancy down the road, the G17 is a solid pistol to own.

                        Welcome to THE forum.

This was at Fowler gun room in Orange. This is my first gun I payed 550 before taxes and DROS fee and As to why now I want one before the laws get worse and before people really start freaking out. I know I’m extremely late but no time like now I figure.

I went through something similar to this. I wanted a Mossberg 590A1, model 50771. They don't pop up often in my area, and this was just before the time people seemed to start panic buying, but I had a feeling that things were going to change and I guess I was right about that!

I called several shops and they were all out of Mossberg shotguns, had no clue when they were getting any in, and one shop even told me that I would not find one in any shops within a couple hours drive from me. I called one last shop and they said they didn't have any but were getting a few in the following week. I drove down to the shop (30min drive form me) and pre-paid for the shotgun. Once it's arrived the following week they called me and I went down to the shop, filled out the paperwork and that's when the 10-day waiting period started. 10 days later (3/24) I went in and picked up my shotgun.

If it wasn't for a specific model that I wanted and the fact that they didn't seem readily available in my area I wouldnt have done what I did, but I think if they told me it would have been a 3 week to 3 month wait I would have politely said "no thank you".

Reasonable....both to price and your timing.
