    Double Stack 9mm 1911 Question

Apparently guns are selling rapidly everywhere so maybe a bad time to start looking for this particular piece...

Awhile ago I saw Remington was making a Double Stack 9mm 1911 (R1 Limited or something like that). It was roughly $1k. At the time I had some other stuff higher up on the list. Since then I've picked up those items that were higher on the list and am now interested in a double stack 9mm 1911.

Seems like the Remingtons are all out of stock. Similar guns from companies like STI and Nighthawk are 3x the price. I thought springfield made one but apparently I'm wrong as I can't find it on their site.

Was the Remington a limited production run? Is there a similar priced double stack 1911 (2011?) option that I should check out in the meantime?

I'm not in CA so not worried about roster status.

    Cheers

Rock island also made a double stack 2011 style but that was few years ago. Not sure if it got enough traction to still be in production.

Rock island or an old para ordinance.

Remingtons are also old para ordnance frame styles. The 2011 STI style frame are far superior and if in your budget they are worth the extra money. There is a reason everyone copies their design and not paras.

I've got a Para Pro Custom 18.9, and it's easily the best double stack 1911, 9mm for the money.

Remington absorbed Para USA in 2015.
Left over Para USA pistols were rebranded and sold as Remington pistols.
They were discontinued when the old Para USA parts ran out.

Armscor makes double stack 1911 pistols and sells them in the sub-$1000 range.

Armscor sells the double stack 1911 with their special caliber, necked down 9mm with 22 or some sort. But I think they do include a 9mm barrel to go with it.

Barring CA pricing, an STI Staccato P has a list price of $1999. Yes, it's double the Remington, but the 2011 frames are far superior to these Para Ordnance style double stack frames 1911 frames.

$2k is still up there. Slightly shorter barrel also it looks like?

Yes. Previous Staccato P had 4.15" barrel. The latest version has a 4.5" barrel. Yes, $2000 is still quite some change, but the quality is definitely there.

I have two Para Ordnance and a RIA Pro Match, all of them in 40S&W. One would think the RIA takes Para Ord mags, actually it takes STI 2011 mags. I still have an STI slide/frame fit and it’s also in 40. I also have Caspian wide body frames built raceguns. I’d say the STI/SV platform is the winner. You can replace the grip if damaged or worn. You have the option of polymer, aluminum, and steel for the grip. You can have the stippling, checkering, or any type of grip enhancing mods.
