I used blue lucite to keep my XD front sight from falling out.

Thanks I needed to use the sight vise as the tolerance was tight installing .. would excessive firings create enough heat on the slide to soften the loctite?

          270: blue loctite
          271: red loctite

A gunsmith would probably install a shim under the sight, or stimple the slide's dovetail bottom surface with a sharp punch in order to displace some metal. Loctite (blue) might work; its pretty unlikely the top of your slide will reach 270 degrees to release it.

You could also peen the dovetail base of the sight out near the edge. I would try a shim under it first, maybe cut from a piece of aluminum can.

Thanks the shim sounds like a great idea for starters and it would also be And easy mod to use the punch on the other side of the slide to display some material and close up the tolerance gap at the dovetail as always Calgunners Helping Calgunners!

Don’t peen / punch or beat on the slide, only peen the removable sight, if the shim doesn’t work
