    Les Baer vz grips

I had to send back my factory wood grips, they cracked on my first range trip. Les is sending me a replacement set. Meanwhile I wanted to mount my Hyena brown VZ grips but noticed there is no ambi cut.....no ambi no problem.

    Awesome 1911!!!

The LB grips are ever so slightly oversized due to the odd frame size. Not sure why that it, but I sure like it! I switched my original LB wood grips to a set of VZs. The originals were WAY too slick for my sweaty palms! LOL! They are beautiful though, almost like furniture. Interestingly, the VZ grips I switched out were exactly the same dimension. Then I shot a Springfield Pro and the grips on THAT felt great. Just a skosh little extra oomph to fill my palms. Odd since I have tiny girl hands??? So, I bought a set from SA and those are just a tiny fraction smaller than the LB/VZ grips I had on there.

After some initial teething problems, I got my PII all sorted out and it runs great now!!! Crazy accurate and built just the way I like.

You'll need to invest in a Dillon 650 or 750(?) to keep it happy!

    Enjoy it!!!!

Is there any problem a Dremel can’t fix? Although that stone is not exactly the bit choice I would have made. Carbide cutter would have been the ticket.

Anyhow I can see in OP pic a common issue with Baer guns and grip swaps: as noted, Baer grips are larger. And due to the thin finish and for whatever reason the moisture that gets under the grips during storage or transport before the owner even gets it - there is a wear line out in front of your new grips where the old grips were.

My brand new Baer had the same issue when I swapped the grips

Les Baers are well built and accurate shooting guns but this just shows how poor their finish is. If the OP's gun is brand new and after 1 range session, have to replace the grip, there should be no wear on the finish. I still believe that Les Baer 1911's are the best bang for the buck for a semi-custom.

From my understanding, if your Baer was made in Hillsdale, the standard 1911 grips will fit perfectly. Baer's made in Le Claire has the slightly different size frame and requires a slightly wider 1911 grip.
