MCX Rattler, the sequel

I'm getting the Rattler bug again (better than the Corona, eh?) so I thought I'd ask, some of you guys have had your Rattlers for several months - how do you like them?

Are you glad you coughed up the money?

You guys with silencers (you know who you are), how has that worked out?

Every time I think it's a silly idea, I think back to youtube MAC and how he has one in his get-home bag, and how that sure seems hard to beat. And that when MrGunsgear went on his road trip last year, he toted a Blackout pistol with brace for (motor) home defense.

I like mine, but being the only thing I have chambered in 300, it doesn't get shot nearly as much as I'd like. I keep mine in a backpack, ready to go whenever.

For a Sig product, I am glad this one does not have to go back for a recall or some other beta tester malarkey.

Yes, glad I bought it. Got a deep discount when Cabela's still included firearms in their 10% off sale and you get to stack those 20% off gift cards.

Not as gassy as an AR with suppressors thanks to the adjustable gas block, but no aftermarket charging handles such as the Gas Buster, SNATCH, Raptor SD, etc.

I'd still take the Q Honey Badger over the Rattler, though. Feels better in my hands.

The Honey Badger looks a little bigger though, right?

What part feels better? Grip? Handguard? How much different can they be? They're both basically AR's.

There aren't many guns that make an MCX anything seems like a good deal - one is an HK, the other is any Q.

The Rattler is still a very good gun.

Yes, the HB's abbreviated buffer tube makes it longer with the stocks collapsed. The upper on the Rattler is a little bit taller while the HB is lighter. The weight balance is further back on the HB, but I bet adding a nice OEM Rattler stock would go a long ways on the Rattler. I had planned to Form 1 this one, but other guns rudely cut in line

The overall finish on the HB is better and the original trigger was no comparison. Of course Q cheated and used a Geiselle single stage (I forgot which model). My Rattler did not come with Sig's Duo Match, but I heard it is very good.

I thought about going Form 1, but if I travel out of state I want to bring it with me. OTOH if I configure it as a braced pistol even after it's sbr'ed it wouldn't be considered an sbr, right? Luckily the swap from stock to brace is just a few minute job.

Wow, better finished than the SIG. I haven't looked at a Rattler up close, but I assume it's similar to the MCX. That's saying something to be better finished. Yeah, people say the Rattler is heavy. I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay the HB price though.

Yup, that was the discussion I brought up in the other thread. The stock on the Rattler looks really good, and swapping it back to a brace is not a big ordeal to cross state lines (where permitted) but for guys living at state borders, I can see why SBRs can be a hassle.

But why not have a basic no-frills PSA pistol lower configured to accept the Rattler upper to cross state lines?

Wow, better finished than the SIG. I haven't looked at a Rattler up close, but I assume it's similar to the MCX. That's saying something to be better finished. Yeah, people say the Rattler is heavy. I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay the HB price though.

Isn't it just one screw to pull off the folding stock from the Pic rail and put on the brace? Seems like a quick job.

You can get the HB upper parts? I figured they had a proprietary system.

Option A.
Move to another State and become a resident of that State.
^Does not apply if you move to CT, HI, MA, MD, NJ, or NY.

Option B.
Become a LEO and buy a CA legal version from your CA FFL dealer.
^CA legal version has a fixed 10 round magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action.

Option C.
Your out-of-state immediate family member gifts a CA legal version to you through a CA FFL dealer.
^CA legal version has a fixed 10 round magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action.

Option D.
You buy a CA legal version that is already in CA via PPT.

Yours are both collapsers, probably harder to get off. I would have only folders that attach to the rear Pic rail, the FS1913 brace, or the minimalist stock.

I was thinking more in terms of the piston gas system. I don't imagine they use anything as common as the Adams setup.
