.380 or 9x19?

What are planning on using this pistol for? You seem to be in a bit of a hurry to buy a handgun, if you can wait a paycheck or two i would take the advice of the other members and buy something better. But if you have a crazy ex-girlfriend after you than i would get the 9mm or a bat.

trust me, its best to wait and save up for a decent gun than a hi-point at least half the customers that i served and refused to go for a better quality gun came back regretting it. especially when they found out the resale value. get yourself a better gun, the slides are made of pot metal and the frame out of a cheap plastic unlike the glock or hk. at my shop they are like $160. Heck, get yourself a sigma at least, those are about double the price.
i dont know your situation and apologies if what i say comes out rough but when i bought my HK long before i worked at a gun shop, i was working a minimum wage job balancing rent, car payments and other bills and still managed to get the hk which at the time was like $900 out the door. Ask if your local gunshop if they have a lay-away plan, that also helps a lot.
