    Desert Eagle vs Mark 23

For those who haven’t handled the Mark 23 it is a huge pistol. Here it is next to my Desert Eagle.

      Nice Guns.

      By the way...
Many years ago I spoke to a Magnum Research engineer about the gold plated Desert Eagles because I was thinking about getting one. He said that with repeated use the gold plating may come off and he has experienced this first hand. This is why they later came out with the titanium gold finish.

He stated the gold finish is a great presentation gun, but not to shoot it too much because of the gold plating.

      Question:
Have you experienced any of the gold plating coming off?

Yes it is. It's an Isreali IWI made .50 AE as well.

It has about 500 rounds through it and I haven't noticed any flaking or peeling off

Nice set. I had these in 2009. Flash from the past. It’s like going back in time.

I remember the gold DEs being sold at Traders Sports gun store near Oakland. The sales guy said they sold a lot of them. The funny part was that they sold more to whites than blacks.
