Nice buy you have made. Have 2 similar One Stainless 6" and another Stainless 8". They are reliable durable and easy to maintain. Real flamethrowers like other 44 mags.
I prefer shooting 44 special loads to lessen the recoil and noise. That is a factor with any 44 mag.
Enjoy your new toy. You did well with the price you paid I have had mine since the 70's and still look and perform like new.

Fantastic gun, I've had mine for 23 years, my grandfather gave it to me when I was 11. I shoot super hot hard cast lead through it with no prob. My father has a ruger super black hawk, I feel the dragoon is better just due to the round trigger guard and "correct" 4 click hammer. Both are the same as far as accuracy. More accurate than than my 8" Colt anaconda as well.

Can't argue the round trigger guard. That Ruger Super Blackhawk "Dragoon"-style squared-corner trigger guard on the Supers can bite if your grip isn't just so. Last time I shot my Old Model Super using commercial 240 gr .44 Mag loads it broke one of the grip panels from recoil but the trigger guard never bit me.

Blackhawks/SuperBlackhawks made before a certain year in the '70s had 3-screw frames, four-click hammers and no transfer-bar safety. They were known as Old Models.

The 44SPL/44MAG new ammo cost about $0.60 a BOOM, so at the 500+1 rds the cost of ammo is more than the cost of the revolver.
I bought a 44Mag revolver made by Artemus, an unknow gun maker in West Germany about 40 years ago, the revolver still BOOM liked day one, so don't worry about the revolver worry about the cost of ammo. Lately a lot people get rid of 44Mag revolver because of the cost of ammo so now it is a buying market for 44Mag Revolver.
Anyway it is nice pick up.

i bought my 5 inch dragoon used over 30 years ago and it is still my hunting gun. ive killed tons of hogs with it over the years and it is dependable and out shoots me(which doesnt take alot). it has been covered in mud, blood and everthing else as well as taken a few baths with me while hunting and it has never failed me. i even clocked a big boar with it once to make him let go of a dog he had a hold of as i didnt want to shoot. smacked him with the butt a few times and he opened his mouth and let go of the dog.

Your quest on market value is moot. These collector items have intrinsic value that only the owners understand...
These Dragoons are one of a kind built to last by Interarms a very cool niche company that failed due to market forces at the time.

Enjoy your gun and keep it for your dependents. Its built to perform and last...

They run for a fair amount more than you paid - anywhere from $450.00 to about $550.00. But every once in a while one pops up at a "it's only a no name SA" thinking price. Not alot were made, they have a bit of a niche following. I bought one when they first came out, should have kept it. Larger & heavier than the Colts and even Ruger, made it very pleasant to shoot.

I just looked at the bottom of the grip and it says “Yorktown 1781-1981”

Are any of these rarer then others based on the wording on the bottom of the grip?
