    Leather Work for Holster

Anyone know someone or business that can alter a leather holster? Basically need one cut down. Have a OWB for fullsize 1911, but I have bobtail commander. Need about one inch trimmed off bottom and restitched.

A saddle tack shop could probably do it for you.

I'm a retired leather craftsman. Show a picture of what you want done.
      Is the holster completely leather?
If it is a fitted holster it most likely will need to be hand stitched.

Yes all leather. Nice holster, just a little long. It is one size fit all 1911 come to find out. Full size 1911 fits perfect. I have a Dan Wesson CBOB so commander size, little shorter barrel. There is about an inch of extra space on bottom beyond barrel.

Unless the extra .75” bothers you I wouldn’t sweat it. That is the difference between govt slide and commander slide, 3/4”

I think 'all' cost involved in modifying this holster would be near the price of a new holster.
I would agree with SkyHawk on this one.

That is well said. Shipping two ways and the charge for work prolly adds to more than the cost of a new one.

However, for custom leather work in LA AREA, I'd talk to "Alfonso of Hollywood" on Magnolia Blvd in Burbank (818)769-0362. They have a nice family shop and make tons of custom holsters.

Me too, I'd leave it. Chances are even done by someone that knows what they're doing its gonna look cobbled/bubba ed.Honestly I'd turn down such a project.

If you are available, I have an old Bianchi leather holster that I want to get repaired. The repair is restitching the strap that goes between the hammer and the frame. I had to cut the strap so that it would fit, due to a larger rear sight. I don't want another holster, this one has been with me around the world.
