    Two New Additions!

    Hey Guys,
New to posting on here so hopefully I am posting in the correct area. I just purchased a Springfield 1911 TRP in 45 and a Glock 19. I am also debating going back for the Stainless Springfield 1911 in the 9mm to conserve costs on ammo long term...

    Questions

-For the owners of the TRP how do you like it?? Thoughts

-Anyone in here own the Springfield 9mm 1911?

My wife got me a TRP Operator as a birthday present a few years back. It’s a good 1911. If you have the bushing less bull barrel like me, I recommend a Dawson guide rod for easier take down. The front checkering on the grip is aggressive, but I like it. Adjustable sights are great, so you can zero your gun to ammo.

SA Loaded 9mm is great...8k plus and not one issue...great trigger too.
Wilson Protector .45, Springer 9mm Loaded, Franchi Instinct SL .12ga. and some other cool stuff for the kiddos...

Welcome and congrats on the TRP. I have a stainless, full rail and just bought a half rail. I love shooting my TRPs because they are tight and built well . Yes the front strap checkering is a little aggressive but does not bother me and really helps keep my grip in place compared to my loaded with no checkering. I also have a SA loaded target 9mm. My 9mm has around 10k though it and is as tight as when I first got it and is also my favorite shooter. The 9mm because it's all metal is a nice semi soft and very accurate shooter. The two things that are the biggest difference between the two would be recoil and ammo cost. Definitely get the 9mm and enjoy. Good thing right now is there's a bunch of the 9mms up for sale in the handgun f/s section at fair prices.

Mine is not 8K yet, but SA SS Loaded 9mm is a good 1911 pistol, I like SA 1911 9mm because:
          - 10 rds magazine instead of 8rds mag.
          - Rear adjustable sight.
          - Stainless Steel looks better than blue
          - 9mm ammo is about 2/3 price of 45ACP.
(As I once said : 45ACP for defense and 9mm for plinking, nothing wrong with both of them, get BOTH)

I think I am going to go pickup the 9mm this week. Turners offered a decent price on the 9mm new since i just bought the two other ones with some goodies..

About the only thing I didn't like about my TRP Stainless was that silly ILS, which went away quickly. It's a good shooting pistol, and for most folks will do as good as the more expensive Professional. I say this because I have both, and using a machine rest for testing repeatable accuracy suggests they are very close with most loads. The TRP will also run very dirty, day in and out.

                      UPDATE!
I ended up going back to buy the 9mm A1 Loaded along with a Daniel Defense AR15.

The SA 9mm 1911 I had was very reliable and a fine shooter. Enjoy

Congrats on your new purchases. Now start saving and go buy your NightHawk 1911. I assume you want one of those because of your screen name. You might end up selling your TRP and Glock 19 as those will be left at home while the 1911's will end up going with you to the range.

I started about 4.5 years ago and my first 2 purchases were a Kimber Tactical Custom II and a Glock 19. Kind of similar to where you started. I ended up selling both of those and have gotten into CZ's as well as semi-custom 1911's.

When you start shooting, you will quickly realize what is nice and fun to shoot vs hard and uncomfortable to shoot. I hope the sharp checkering doesn't hurt your hands shooting the TRP and the grip size on the Glock 19 fits you. Let us know how your first range session goes.

I completely relate to this. I remember starting out versus now as well. Started with a Sig Sauer P226, then had a string of cheap Glocks, moved up to a Springfield 1911, and then I got my hands on a Wilson Combat and it was all downhill from there. (Was a pleasure meeting you in person by the way, loving the DW, appreciate your making that trip.)

I foresee him at least keeping the Daniel Defense AR, those are really nice examples of pre-built ARs.

Mine has a 4 lb. 3 oz. Trigger pull from the factory. Smooth and crisp.

There is a guy in the 1911 forum selling 9 mm metalform SS mags for $12 each. Two dozen left so far. Classifieds section.
