I have an opinion of what is "full power" but that's just based on my small universe of experience. Here is a link to Target Sports USA's selection of .44 mag. Take a look at a bunch of the name brand stuff and average it out, would be my suggestion. I think your original value is ok, might be a little low for people that really like to rock a Ruger Super Redhawk, for instance. Actually took another look, and your guess is pretty close.

There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Thanks. I kinda did the same thing. Nice to know I was on the right track!

Well, if you reload, you can roll your own full power loads.

In 44mag I like to run 240gr XTP's on top of 23.something gr of H110. Always refer to a good manual and choose the right powder and load for your purposes. (this is why ".something").

Another thought if you want to go lighter. Your carbine may function as a single shot. You may be able to work the bolt by hand.

I always wanted that Ruger carbine in my youth.

WWB would be fine. Of course if you are a reloader you will save a lot of money.

Sorry OP, I glossed over the possibility that you may not reload.

In my experience, Remington UMC 180gr JSP ammo is pretty hot. I would definitely describe it as full load 44 mag ammo.

When I got mine a few years back I had read somewhere that Federal 240gr ammo cycles reliably in these guns and it has for me.
I haven't done any ammo comparisons or hand loading yet.

I load 23 grn of imr 4227 under a 240 grn hornady xtp. cycles no problem. at almost a dollar a round, reloading is a great hobby.

Thanks. Any of those rounds have overlap in the “still fun to shoot out of a handgun” category?

I don’t reload, but this might get me to start.

It's the expense that will persuade you to start. That's when I started metallic cartridge reloading - after I got a .44 Magnum.

The OP asks, "What Is a “Full Power” .44 Mag Load?"

Answer; Any .44 caliber bullet headed your way is a 'Full Power' Load.

And as a side note or if you have further question remember:
All rounds, .44 or no, have the Right of Way.
