    Les Baer Custom Carry

Well in 10 days I will get to pickup my new Custom Carry from Turners. I wanted to get some input from any Les Baer owners? How do you like your Baers etc? Also are the 3 inch guarantee guns very accurate etc?

Great gun. I have a CC that was a LE duty gun. Has about 8k rounds through it by now and lockup is still tight. Can't speak on accuracy as I know it will outshoot me. If yours is blued, the bluing will scratch easily and your slide might turn purple.

      Congrats on the gun.

More often than not, the 3 inch guns are more accurate than that. The 1 1/2" Guarantee just ensures they take extra time to make sure they get you a gun to shoot 1 1/2". I have had guns that were 3" shoot just as well.

The Baers are made with a hard fit. Sometimes it takes a lot more effort to pull the slide back. Also with the hard fit, I have seen some guns that may have the wrong links put on, while still being fairly accurate, the links eventually failed and needed to be replaced.

Les Baer, is really good company to deal with. I have called in with issues, and lo and behold I actually got Les himself on the phone and was describing the issues I was having. He has a reputation of being a gruffy guy, but he couldn't have been further from that at that time. He was really great and told me to send my gun in and they'd take a look at it. The only other place where I had that kind of customer service was Wilson Combat, and Bill Wilson himself taked to me on the phone. But I digress, Baer great company to deal with and do not worry about issues should they arise. They will get it done.

One thing to note, the bluing on the Baers are fairly light.. However it gives it a certain character. There is member on this board who has some worn baers, but they look beautiful having that certain patina.

One issue that I definitely did have to change on my Custom Carries were the rear sight. The tritium vials were incased a metal slug in the rear sight and depending on the lighting would reflect and stand-out more so than the front sight. I obviously changed out the rear. If you do plan on doing so. Please remember that they are locktited really well and need heat to release the compound.

Overall really great guns. I have one that has more than 25K rounds though it and is still tighter than an old kimber I had could ever dream to be brand new.

The finish is very thin, that is my only complaint. Mine came with a buggered grip screw and the bushing internal threads were buggered too. I called and they put me on the phone with Les Baer himself. He was a very nice guy, and they sent me out a new bushing and screw pronto.

I have only one Baer rifle, no pistols. The rifle lives up to its 1/2 MOA guarantee.

I like my CC. Very tightly fit and very accurate. If you don't have a bushing wrench, you'll need one.

I love my Concept 2 and Premier 2. As others have said bluing is kinda thin, but that doesn't bother me. You'll need the bushing wrench that should be in the box. I still need it on my Concept 2 that has many thousands of round through it.

I bought two Premier IIs from Crazy John four years ago, one for me, one for my son.

There are excellent pistols. Not the 1.5" ones, but easily the most accurate pistols I have shot. Better than my buddy's Colt Gold Cup. Each have about 1500 rds, not one hiccup whatsoever. Still have tight fits compared to my Wilson, and the fit and finish is not up to the Wilson's standards. But it is a shooter, a real joy to shoot and have fun.

Not sure about the Baer Custom Carry but my Premier II outshoots my CQB Elite.

Congratulations. Les Baer makes a fine pistol. The custom carry is a great entry into the semi custom 1911 world. Enjoy. If you have any specific questions oh, look up my reviews or shoot me a message.

I picked up my LBCC from Crazy John about four years ago now and it is by far my most favorite pistol I have ever owned. Love the hard fit, love the wear of the light bluing, trigger and FSC. It's just a classic 1911 that is 100% reliable and very easy to shoot. I carry it every day and will die with it on my side

I did swap the rear sight for a 10-8.
