    Project SA XD service 9

So I own several XD's (sub, service,) they all shoot great except for my service 9 - it shoots left and low confirmed by several shooter's from a rest - I was able to drift the sights and get it to just shoot low - i still wasn't happy so i thought to myself what the hell reddots on pistols is trending and I wanna be 1 of the cool kids
    20200106_195249.jpg
Removing the rear sight was a pain in the buttocks until I decided to use the right tools
    20200106_195328.jpg
Sprayed some clp let sit for 15min grabbed a regular hammer and a steel punched 3-4 good and I mean good whacks and bam sights were off
    20200106_195215.jpg
    20200106_195302.jpg
Completely stripped the slide not necessary I just wanted to give this thing a thorough cleaning

So for any1 who has removed the extractor from an xd can tell you it's not easy and not really necessary but if you do remove it you'll quickly realize why it's such a pain to remove the part is out of spec I regret not taking pics I actually tried to remove it again to show but couldn't and my fingers hurt
    20200106_174929.jpg
So here's the cheapest/crappiest way I found to mount a red dot it's a ade product sold by amazon $20
    20200106_174952.jpg
    20200106_175011.jpg
So part E2 replaces your rear sight and E1 screws on to E2 using 2 small screws - SIMPLE RIGHT, WRONG
    20200106_180216.jpg
Part E2 is way out of spec so a good set of files is gonna be needed and 2 hours with smoke breaks in between to get it to work

Sorry folks I didnt take pics of the part E2 when I was done fitting it 20200106_200631.jpg
The 2 screws that secure E1 to E2 were too long and had to be trimmed and E1 is way too wide to self center on to the slide meaning even when you tighten the 2 screws that secure E1 and E2 - E1 would still move a bit if you taped on it - so I degreased and cleaned all parts and put a thin layer of red loctite on all matting parts did my best to center everything and let it cure for 3 days
      20200106_200622.jpg
And bam here it is - crap the striker retaining pin
      20200109_010857.jpg
      20200109_012723.jpg
No problem I just drilled from the bottom of the slide using a small drilled and cleaned it up carefully

Nice work, and no visible scratches. How well centered is E2? Do you think the red dot will be able to compensate for any variances?

I'm gonna try to shave off atleast 2 pounds off the trigger pull - I have some ideas on how to do that along with polishing all the contact points on the trigger components

Alright so when I first ordered the mount I didnt notice that they sold package deals so i bought the red dot with the XD mount it was an additional $5 bucks so it made sense to buy the package deal

View of dot doesn't make too much sense to take pics of it considering it looks completely different in pics - you get what you pay for the dot isn't super sharp but its perfect for the price, the brightness adjustments are nice it holds its last setting when powered on and off - the lens is huge for a pistol optic the field of view is amazing

That's an awful lot of work to make the sight mount actually fit the pistol it is advertised for. There's got to be a better option in the market.

Anyway, looks like you got er done. Hope you enjoy the finished product! Thank you for the informative post.

I agree it was alot of fitting to make it work but when it was all said and done the mount is rock solid - I wrote a according review on amazon but if you have the skills and tools it does work - i have the range report il be posting in a few hours

So prior going to the range I sighted in the red dot using my g-sight training tool
                              20200110_182241.jpg
My xd was spot on there was no adjustment necessary
This was @ 7 yards all the circles are 1" and keep in mind this is my first time shooting a red dot on a pistol other than a 22lr

I was amazed at how easy it was to hit your targey
I shoot 500 rounds totale there was another 100 round box not in the pic - right around 250 rounds my red dot came loose not the mount the optic itself - I tightened it back down and it was slightly off I never prep the hardware on the optic for the simple fact that I wasn't sure if it was gonna work - know that I know I'm keeping it and the ade optic just plain work I'm gonna secure it permanently
