Blazer, Federal, Magtech, Sellier & Beloit are all popular. I’ve also shot piles of aluminum Blazer and Wolf/Tula steel case with zero issues (but check with your local range).

No problems with either Winchester White Box or Federal Red Box.

If you want to shoot tight groups, then ammo does matter. Also some are dirtier than others. Magtech is probably the best cheaper ammo. GECO is cleaner and more accurate.

Everyone will have their preferences based on reasons too logical, illogical and numerous to deduce. What is on sale - what causes your guns problems or makes it "shine" - what is your bias or force of habit?

Mine is Federal American Eagle, PNC, and Blazer. But being a true Renascence man, I'm still open to alternatives

I shoot a lot of federal cheapo brass and aluminum 9mm. GECO 9mm is great too. Frankly, any RUAG conglomerate ammo I’ve bought in any caliber is great and cheap.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I have run everything under the Sun in my old Taraus PT92,one of the first ever to come out when they were still made on Berreta tooling and Italian trained staff with Italian Berreta managers.
Never a burp on anything from the cheapest to most expensive.
I pretty much run Fiocchi ball as its fairly cheap and close to the actual NATO ammo used by the military
