Springfield XD 45 4" test drive

So I got the XD out of jail Monday night and went straight to FT3 in Stanton (best indoor range near me by far) Took my son with me to get his opinion too.

So we had the 40 Desert Eagle, CZ 75 Compact, 1911 22 Sig, LCR 22, AR15 and a SKS.

We started off with the XD and did a side my side comparison with my Baby Eagle. It is shorter by 3/4 inch, about the same thickness and the grip is approx 1/3 inch smaller. Check its more compact than the Eagle.

Shoot 20 rounds of 45, then 20 rounds of 40 S&W. I would venture to say just about exact felt recoil to me. the eagle is so heavy it negates most of the "snappiness" of the 40 S&W round. Bonus for me. I was worried the grip may be too large for my hand but it was very comfortable and not much larger than the Eagle.

It is pretty darn accurate out of the box. The trigger will take a bit to get used to as it is different than any trigger I've had, not bad just different. The three big white dots were nice, but hi-vis sights are in the Xd's near future.

After feeding 150 rounds through the pipe I was smiling. I think I may have found a replacement for my full size EDC Baby Eagle, its physically smaller, lighter and chambered in 45 ACP.

We also threw lots of lead from the other weapons we had. The 22 calibers got most of the use as they are so damn fun to shoot

Nice! Did you get it at Turners on sale? That was a heck of a deal...

Happy to hear it worked out for you - I got mine on a black friday sale 2 years back for $299 - I regret not getting a 2nd one when turners had them for $349 a few weeks ago
