Call Sig - they may send you one for free. They sent me one for my P227 Carry, which is different than the P229 tool. I am pretty sure my P229ESE came with the tool though, can't get to the box right now to double check though.

I had the same experience and called Sig to find out... they no longer supply the tool. :-(
It's pretty easy to remove the grips without it.

That is a bummer. I bought mine years ago, fairly certain it came with the tool. I also think I have an extra that came with a E2 grip kit I bought for my P229 DAK.
