P226 not Locking Back [Solved]

Due to my thumbs forward grip, I've had trouble getting my P226 slide to lock back upon emptying a magazine. This is because my thumb rides the slide release/catch.

Per the recommendation of other forums, I purchased a P224/P226 legion slide catch (they are the same). All in all it was pretty much an easy direct drop in. I did make a few small passes with a file on the grip but other than that I am very happy with this quick and easy, $25 solution.

Does it hug the frame closer or what? I trained my thumbs to stick out to fix this. There was no legion when I got my 226 anyway.

A tad closer to frame, not as long (forward to back) and not as wide (left to right). Also the hashes are slightly different (cross hashed vs lines).

I've tried training thumbs up but between switching to 1911s and my CZ Tactical Sport it was hard to keep this consistent. Now I have to deliberately press the control for it to activate.

And you had to shave the left side grip a bit?

Just a tiny bit, it all fit together without filing but I could see a small corner that would interfere during operation

How's the knuckle on your left thumb holding up?
