    phoenix hp25 5" barrel

I know, phoenix HP's.. cheap materials, cheap build, cheap $.. but they are fun to shoot, and their customer service is actually pretty good.. I have cracked two hp22 frames over the years, and they replaced them quickly..

Anyway, years ago they had an optional 5 inch barrel for their .25 acp hp25 model. Then it just sort of vanished.

Does anyone remember why they dropped that conversion 2-in-1 kit for the .25 ? Phoenix is strangely quiet on it.. I am wondering if their frame just couldn't handle the bigger barrel.

I have the base model hp25a, 3" barrel (and both 3 and 5 in 22), that I have put a few K rounds through, sort of hitting paper some of the time but no mechanical problems other than a few springs and a firing pin..

BTW.. if anyone has that kit NIB for the hp25a.. let me make an offer..

I can't say for sure, but I picked up a 5" .25 on ebay, and it required a significant amount of fitting and some material removal to get it to fit the frame. That would indicate to me the mold may have had some issues, and too much work was required to hand fit each barrel. I've only seen ONE 5" .25 barrel on ebay, but that's probably your best bet - the one I got was "new", as it was not possible for it to have been fitted to a frame because of the above issues.

I do know that most of the (3") .25 barrels I've seen have a section milled off and a plate bolted on where the takedown engages, this is the same area that had issues on the 5". I have tools and took the time to hand fit. Now all the .25 acp slides and barrels will interchange on any of my HP22A frames, but it's not something I'd expect the typical "cheap gun" buyer to be able to address or want to pay a gunsmith to "fix".

Since I already had a couple .22's, the .25 conversions were a fun "project" - they all shoot very accurately in either caliber for me, maybe I just shoot cheap guns better!

I've been looking for the 5in 25 ACP barrel also. I think was just quickly discontinued because most people don't see the need for a cheap handgun in 25 auto with a target barrel firing expensive ammunition.
