I was thinking about getting a cobray m11... but u know, that little roster list stops me. So I was thinking about the single shot exemption. Could I epoxy the mag follower to the top, disable the mag release, take off the threads, not sure about barrel length requirement... but if I do all that, would I be able to dros it?

If you take off the threads then it dosent have to have a locked magazine, because the magazine is in the mag well and the only pistol evil feature would be the threads . So make sure thatI was thinking about getting a cobray m11... but u know, that little roster list stops me. So I was thinking about the single shot exemption. The overall lenght is more than 10 1/2 inches, make sure barrel is atleast 6 inches , if you take off the thread just send a single shot bob sled mag with the cobray and it could be drosed that way. If the FFL is willing.
EDIT
not sure if the pistol HAS to be drosed with a locked mag reguardles of evil features or not, if it only matters if it has evil features, then if you keep the threads, locked mag release. if you take them off, detachable magazines and buy new 10 rounders or use your prebans.*DISCLAIMER* I probably misspelled alot of things, and i dont care...

Not exactly sure in what configuration they use, but they sell it to you as single shot pistol. After the dros and when it is in your procession, u can convert it to a semi-auto. Plus I don't feel like paying $1000+ for a $500 dollar pistol.Last edited by KracknCorn; 04-30-2009, 12:42 PM.Hartzler v. City of San Jose.

I asked before in a similar thread, but the person who answered didn't read my question before answering, so I'll try again since the topic is up.
Since a single shot pistol is not barred from having a threaded barrel, only a semi-auto pistol is, would it be possible to meet the length requirement for the single shot exemption by using a long muzzle device, like a fake suppressor, that was just screwed on? In other words, is there any rule on the permanence of the length for a single shot, like there is for rifles with <16" barrels?
Obviously once the formalities of the single shot were taken care of you would need to address the barrel threading before converting to semi to avoid manufacturing an AW."It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." -AristotleComment

For single-shot pistols...
- bbl must be min 6" long;
- overall length must be min 10.5" long measured parallel to barrel;
- IMHO a dead 'filler' mag should be locked in with some sorta device, and/or
or a crap burned out barrel with no feedramps should be used so as to attain
exempt single-shot status.
