Best 9mm defensive round

A starter question so I can formulate a survey. What is the best 9mm defensive round? There are lots of guys out there more knowledgeable than I am. In these over-regulated days I need to make my purchases wisely.

It doesn’t matter what kind 9 mm ammo you going to defense yourself.
It maybe FMJ or JHP or TMJ or BEB.
You may choose 115 or 124 grain....
Main idea - have practice to shoot 3 - 5 rounds at distances 3 - 20 yards and able to cover with your hand.

I am using Federal HST 147gr standard pressure, works well on my EDC G19.

Whatever you choose, make sure that they function on your gun.

There is no "best" that folks will unanimously agree on. There are, however, probably a Top 3 or Top 5. My preference is for Federal HST's. YMMV.

Federal 147 HST; In both G19 & Ruger Carbine.

Federal HST .45ACP in 1911's, Glock's, and UZI Carbine.

Underwood Xtreme Defender penetrates less than Xtreme Penetrator, while retaining similar wound characteristics. Underwood is pricey though. Second the Federal HST as an excellent defensive round.

I have the bullets so I can reload the extreme penetrator round. Because I am doing a combined DROS HST is starting to be the best choice.

Either 124 or 147 HST are really good.

Agreed. Both work reliably in my G17.
