Sig P229 Red Dot Sight Conversion

So I just picked up a SIG P229 last week and have been wanting to try a red dot sight on one of my pistols. Most of my pistols are Glocks and unless you have a new gen with the MOS slide it looks like you have to send the slide out to get milled. Being the impatient person I am, lol, I found a kit that includes the RX slide, sights and Romeo 1 RDS on sigs website for $399. All I had to do was drop in my barrel and guide rod spring and now I have a RDS equipped 229. Seemed like a great deal and I didn't have to send a slide out to get milled. Just thought I would share if anyone was in the same boat. Here is the link to the kit. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/rx-sl...mbly-p229.html

Fyi, after talking with sig, it looks like this kit will only work with the 9mm 229 models.

While I no longer have a P229, I told my friend who still does, and we both agree that that is a great deal.

But before he jumped on it, he searched around, and found it even cheaper elsewhere.

Osage County Guns is one of the largest gun stores in Missouri and one of the largest Sig Sauer dealers in the US!

Out of stock, though, but I guess if you want to wait....

Good deal. Osage is my go to for everything Sig.

How is the Overall durability on the R1s? I figure I’ll eventually go RDS on my 226. Though I may stick with RMRs for consistency and familiarity sake.

Good to know for future purchases. Can't speak to the durability as I just got it. It seems to be built well and I've read other people having pretty good luck with them. After training with it, I plan to add it to my ccw and possibly have it as my edc. That will be the true test on how it holds up. I do like that it has back up sights so if the RDS did take a dump you are not shooting blind.

Note that in the picture, it has suppressor height sights, which may not fit in your holster.
