Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I’ve been happy with Galco for leather but I’ve also admired the work from:

The original maker of the Guides Choice® Leather Chest Holster, leather gun holsters, leather belts & more holsters. Hand made in ALASKA and MADE TO LAST

They may have something to your liking.

Excellent!! They are located in Wasilla. I may get one more trip up to Anchorage before the year is out. May have to drop by and see if they have some samples to check out.

Mr. Null makes a nice horsehide holster for the 5" John Ross PC 500.

Check out the Sourdough Pancake made by Simply Rugged Holsters. Looks like a great option for your 4" X-frame. I recently had a holster made by owner Rob Leahy and couldn't be more impressed with the quality, fitment and pricing of their product.

I did see the sour dough holster on a prior search, it does look good.

I wore a 5.5-inch .44 Redhawk in a Triple K holster for about 10 days during a trip to Alaska this summer. This particular one can be strong side or cross-draw and has a thumb-break that hugs the hammer. I carried cross-draw because it allowed me to sit in the deep Mastercraft bucket seats and fasten the seatbelt of my 4x4 without interference. Did get heavy on the waist and moved around a lot while hiking. After an hour or so in the bush I was jealous of my friends running chest rigs.

A S&W X-frame is gonna be substantially heavier that a Redhawk. I can't imagine one on my hip, but that's just me and everybody is different. I carry my 8-3/8 inch X-frame in a DeSantis chest holster. Mine is an older model not on their website anymore but it's essentially just like this one: https://www.desantisholster.com/the-terminator/

Depending on how mobile you're planning on being I'd suggest the chest rig.

I second the Diamond D chest rug.
I have one for my 460V and couldn’t be happier.
This sounds impossible but the weight just disappears after a 1/2hour or so.

I have 2 of these. One is for a Glock 20 and the other I bought for a Ruger Redhawk 4" but it fits my S&W 329 just as good. I spend a lot of time outdoors and these are super comfortable. I probably have 5 different backpacks and these don't interfere at all with the waist or chest straps. None of my guns weight what an X-frame does but super happy with the gunfighters for my pea-shooters.....
