        The sight tool doesn't cost that much, it's worth it go get one.

          3/16 nut driver, red loctite, a small hammer and nylon punch are all you need to DIY. A vise is a plus, but not impossible to do without one.

            I put Dawson sights on my G-17. Dawson specified Blue Loctite. The reason being that Blue will allow the front sight screw to be removed with relative ease, if needed. Red Loctite would be very difficult.

            The front sight screw is tiny, so be sure not to over torque it. My rear sight was very tight, and a sight tool made the job much easier. Just my personal experience.
