    XD Magazine Question

    Can anyone identify a standard capacity magazine that:

    (a) existed prior to the high-cap ban;
    (b) could work (with or without modification) in either an XD 9 or XD 45; and
    (c) could be repaired (with or without modification) with XD magazine parts?

        +1

        If you use a .40 10 round magazine, you can fit 15 9mm rounds.

        Not that I would condone such a thing.

            If you happen to have some preban promag s&w model 59 mags they can be made to work in an xd with good results. You need to drill a hole in the front of the mag then use a small file to shape the hole like the xd mag catch. Then the on the follower shave just a little off ledge or the slide will lock back with a round in the mag. The last thing is to insert the mag in the frame with the slide off. If you push up hard on the mag you will see where the left feed lip will barely contact the ejector. File that lip just slightly so it will clear the ejector no matter how hard you slap the mag in the gun. When you get done you will have a preban 15 round mag that will work in both guns. I have shot matches with them and they worked fine. Mark

              Remember that if you do this mod to make it work it still has to work in the gun it was originally made for otherwise you are manufacturing a high capacity magazine.
              In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

                  A IIRC only HS2000 in 9mm were around pre 2000
                  B xd40 sually work with 9mm but on some the feed lips need to be bent in for the 9mm
                  C I'm not sure what your asking

                  What are you trying to do ?

                    There are no preban hs2000 hicaps. They were imported with 10 rounders. As for converting mags from other guns springfield was selling converted 15 round beretta mags when they first started selling XD 9mm guns. You can also convert sig mags and I even got a cz75 mag to work even though it wouldn't lock the slide back. The trick is to use a mag from a gun that has a similar follower, is the right length and cut the mag catch in the front. The problem with beretta mags is they are too long and the feed lips hit the ejector(they can break). That's why the promag mod59 mags are good because they are almost exactly the right length. Even if you don't mess with the follower you get 14 rounds before it locks back the slide with one round in the mag. And it will still function in a s&w auto. Mark
