Glock finger grooves and trigger guard undercut

The Glock finger grooves don't fit me. I had to do something about it and today I finally found myself alone and instantly started the project. I got two clamps, frogtape, bunch of sandpaper and a sheer will and determination.

It took me a little more than an hour to completely remove and polish both finger grooves on my 20SF. I started with 220 grit followed by 400, 600, 800, 1000 and 2000. Visually I am happy with the result. It makes a ton of difference in hand and I love it.

Now, after I am done with that it got me thinking:

    1. Should I attempt to do the trigger guard undercut as well? I think it is a lot more demanding job and with a lot more room for error. I don't think I can do it freehand as I did with the finger grooves. I think I will need a dremel tool with a sandpaper wheel with a specific diameter. And I will need different sandpaper grits for that wheel. Anyone has any info regarding the right wheel size for that job?

    2. It seems to me that if I did the trigger guard undercut first I might not have needed the finger grooves removal job since my fingers will shift a little upwards and they will no longer sit on top of the finger grooves. Do you think there will be a benefit of doing the trigger guard undercut considering that I already massively improved the comfort of my grip? Is it worth going that route?

Dremel, 1/2" sanding drum. Various grits, you can finish it with finer sandpaper by hand.

I leave the nub and simple undercut the frame until the finger below your trigger finger fits how you want it to.

Notice how the undercut is done 90 degrees to the grip angle?
That allows your finger to wrap under the triggerguard with the gun properly seated un the web of your hand from when your hand hits the gun in the holster before you even start your draw.
It makes it MUCH more natural to form your grip after unholstering.

The factory glock setup requires you to SHIFT the gun in your grip to get your 2nd finger to properly settle in.

If it already feels good without the grooves, I’d leave it at that and call it a day.

Perhaps shoot it and then decide if you still want the undercut.

The undercut makes it so much more comfortable to shoot. The first time I shot my Glock 35 in a USPSA club match I learned what Glock knuckle is. I usually flatten the strong hand undercut up to where it meets the supporting hand undercut. Initial cuts look like this.

Nice work. I just run the one undercut for the strong hand and it makes a huge difference. No more glock knuckle.

no more dremeling necessary, try it like like it is for a while dont make the mistake of over doing it, what you take off you cannot replace

some people go crazy with the dremel and take away too much material, making it kind of thin and flimsy in appearance, the frame is stronger if you dont go any further, but I would add some grip tape to the areas you smoothed out, the sand paper type tape.

Most handguns do not fit most people. It is that ergonomically thing.

OP you actually did good work because 99% of bubba'd Glocks are poorly done.

On a sidenote I carry a Glock everyday the only improvement on my G17 were night sights and my G19 is stock and they work for me.

                            Then you would not suck.

                              Nice work OP!
I vote for shoot first - dremel second!

Generally I don’t care for finger grooves, and a Glock being shaped as it is, needs all the help it can get. I don’t know if I would like the undercut trigger guard, but it could hurt to round it off a bit.
