I know that you have to lock up pistols in a case or have them in the trunk to transport them legally. My question is, if you have a AR lower that is marked pistol and was registered/drosed as a handgun, do you have to lock it up also if there is no upper attached to it? I think the answer is yes but wanted to see. The same would go with if you were driving somewhere with just a Glock or a 1911 frame. Is there anything in the law that says the gun has to be in a functioning state or is it fine if the gun is disassembled.
I know the easy solution is to just throw it in the trunk but many suv's don't have a trunk.
