Looking to purchase my first 45 ACP pistol. Prefer a SA/DA format. Narrowed it down to a SIG P220 and an HK expert. Have shot both. Any pro or con arguments either way..? Thanks.

I have had both. The SIG is an awesome pistol, but I'll take the HK Expert all day long (still have it).
I don't think it is better, it's just personal preference of mine for the HK, and I have a special liking for the Expert.

Haven't shot the P220. Have the HK Expert and it is a tack driver and easy recoil for a .45. It is a big gun. the grip is big around. I can't reach the slide release easily with my thumb, although I usually sling shot. The magazine release is a little odd and for me is easier to operate with my trigger finger. I really like it and am glad I bought it. for me it is really a range toy and use a P226 for bedside.Comment

The Sig P220 would be my choice. Sig makes a great, easy to carry .45, and it still is available without unnecessary or negative state mandated features.Comment

I’ve shot both. I own, and prefer, the Expert. It is an awesome pistol.Comment

HK USP Expert is my vote!
Built like a tank, reliability is there, and definitely a tack driver...Comment

I'm just not an HK fan. They are quality weapons. But I much prefer Sigs. So my vote is for the P220. But if I were looking for a SA/DA 45, I'd also take a look at the FNX 45...although it's not on the roster. Don't know if that matters to you."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

Another vote for the Expert. It’s like the an evolved and cheaper USP match.
