    Sig p220 LE vs. non-LE?

I read a few things that sig makes 2 types of the p220. One for Law enforcement and one for non-LE. Basically, he gun has a better finish and is tighter built (more of a match grade)...is this just an advertising joke or has some merit?

    thanks

i have the le p229. only diff btw mine and a regular p229 is the colour of the box (black vs. blue). can't say for the p220, but shouldn't be much different, i think.

I believe the LE version of the P220 has Siglite Night Sights standard and comes with (3) mags instead of (2). There is actually no difference in the firearms themselves.

If you were to buy an LE version P226, it would come with Siglite Night Sights and (3) standard capacity mags (15rd for 9mm and 12rds for .40S&W/357SIG).

I believe the LE version of the SIG Pro series has the Night Sights, (3) standard capacity mags and only one grip. I'm not positive on that though.

The LE version comes with a black box with "LAW ENFORCEMENT" across the top, and come at a discounted price (FET out)

I purchased a sig 220 that was a LE turn in. I love it! It came w/ night sights and three mags, one 8 round mag and two 7 round mags. I got it for a steal off of gunbroker about three years ago. It is an outstanding handgun and a pleasure to shoot. I highly recommend the 220.

other diff is the LE versions comes with the evil "more than 10 round" magazines for the .40 and the 9mm versions...

for those models that come in those calibers. FWIW, all my non LE sigs came in black cases. i always thought the blue cases were LE...

                The 1st P220 was in 9mm.

                Not in .40 though.

The LE version may have k-kote (or sig-kote) applied to it. Suppose to be a nicer, more robust finish than plain bluing.

Had a special order on a P220 with K-kote about a dozen years ago from Traders. After waiting 11 months with no commit date from Sig, cancelled the order and applied my deposit towards a Colt Gold Cup. Looking back, should have just gotten both
