Different Trigger feel on multiple CZ PCRs

I recently started to think about getting a CZ PCR to add to my collection. I have been able to shoot a PCR and a P-01 at the range and I think they are very nice guns for carry and range.

After reading about CZ triggers and how some are gritty and some are smooth, I decided to try several guns to see how different they are from one another. Luckily, my LGS had many in stock and the salesmen was gracious enough to bring out 4 for me to try.

Gun1: Very gritty and I could feel that there were cuts in the sear surface I was gliding across. It did not matter between SA and DA. I could feel the same response like there were CNC marks that I was pulling across. Gun1 was eliminated immediately. Even after trying multiple dry fires, the feeling never went away.

Gun2: Much smoother and was more like what I would want. However, the travel seemed very long in DA mode. SA was a nice feel to me. Maybe the DA travel was normal.

Gun3: Similar to Gun2, but the trigger seemed looser like there was more of a disconnection in one of the linkages or the trigger was narrower. Reset seemed to have some grittyness to it..but not sure.

Gun4: Seemed a bit smoother than Gun2 and had the same tightness and feel I would assume is normal. Still alot of travel on DA, but not too bad.

I then went back between Gun2 and Gun4 and settled on Gun4.

Just wondering if this is normal for CZs. Normally, I do not get to try multiple guns within the same model. There is just one or two at a LGS to try. Overall, I like the PCR and it feels substantial in the hand without being large.

While not always the case, this is pretty standard for factory CZ 75 variant pistols. Each can be unique in factory condition. Chances are that with 500+ rounds through them they would be much more similar. Once you get to tuning them they tend to get closer to one another as well.

I think it is common on most guns if you are privy to handle multiples of the "exact same" model. There are so many examples in my own collection, but Ruger MK', P-series, Jerichos, 10/22's, SA 1911's come to mind just with a friend or family member buying the same gun and having noticeably different triggers or actions. Since then I have checked out identicals many times. Yeah CZ's vary a little, SA's a lot, Rugers seem to vary a lot. In the LGS, I think sometimes it can be variance in lubrication or something breakin would normalize... but some are night and day. I think it has been well-known forever. I recall way back when I shopped at Wild Sports where there were some clerks that would test triggers and set aside the good one for buddies or good customers.

My uncle had a MK .22 that always felt a lot better and much less gritty than my identical gun... it took me getting VQ parts to make it feel better than his stock trigger - tens of thousands of rounds didn't do it. Some 10/22 triggers are horrible IMHO. Mossberg 500 triggers have gotten much heavier and grittier IMHO. I'm sure the lawyer effect ebbs and flows with various models, but also the tooling just is not the same for each milling.

Lucky you that you had a handpick... my PCR trigger is the best actual CZ trigger I have - maybe some clones come close or surpass. Hopefully a Cajunized SP-01 will be the best someday.

It's a mass production item. It's not a match fit gun and there will be differences.

I would add, unfortunately, some of the new S&W revolvers that come out of Performance Center have the same variability as above.

IMO CZ's tend to have a good bit of variation from the few I've had, and when you see their machining on digging in, its understandable.

I did the same when I got my P01, they had 3. They were closer than I expected, but there was a stand out with minimal creep.

FWIW, I have noticed even wider variation among Sig Sauers. They can be all over the board. I've sent some back for being complete poop.

The cz has a long double action in general. It's supposed to especially in the decocker versions. Shoot it it'll only get better.

You have obviously never installed a trigger return spring on an HK.
