I recently bought an Abilene single action revolver that has a problem.
The previous owner had an action job done. The problem is that about
half of the time it will not hold half-cock. This is very frustrating
when trying to load or unload. Also, the trigger is extremely light,
lighter than I like. I've had what I call a couple of SD's. That's a
Surprise Discharge. It seems to me that just moving my finger to the
trigger fires, before I've thought I was going to fire.
I know my mechanical limitations, and opening up the works is more than I
might be comfortable with right now. I've never had to use a gunsmith
before and might need to find one, hopefully local to OC. Anybody know of
someone they recommend? Also, what do most gunsmiths charge for a
look-see, gotta plan my gun budget.
It looks like most parts are available from Numrich, so it should be
fixable.
