Another vote here for the Kahr K9. Very slim and accurate and the stainless steel construction makes it feel solid in the hand.

Lots of good input and thanks to all of you for your time and advice. It's appreciated.
        Enjoy your weekend.
SIG 229 is double stack and the same size as the 228 and 226. Single stack is the 225.

A lot of people are suggesting guns that are not just small in the grip, but overall compact. Along with that comes a short barrel and short sight radius.. They may fit your hand better but may not really fit your needs if your primary purpose is really shooting for accuracy at 25 yards. Taking that into consideration, I really think a commander or government sized 1911 with thin grips in 9mm or 45ACP would probably best solve your problem as it will offer a small grip, short distance to trigger and accuracy. If you reload, you can down load a 45 to be a pretty soft shooter, and as someone else pointed out, the recoil impulse is simply different. If you don't reload, 9mm is probably the choice.

I have medium hands with shorter fatter fingers from years of hitting them with hammers and blunt objects.....

I am an M&P9 guy because the controls are all right where I need them without breaking my grip, and my P10c with extended controls (both with small grips). I also converted my 1911 to slim grips and added extended controls which helped a lot. My shield is a bit small but with the extended mag lip it makes it feel like a bigger gun.

The only other guns that came close were the P320 with a medium grip module (you may need small), PPQ and the VP9 because of the grip inserts. CZ Sp01 was a pretty good gun too grip wise, especially with slim grips

I would take the above advice and rent as money guns as possible and see what works for you. Just because it fits your hand doesn't mean you will like how it shoots though, some guns push and some snap while others just don't feel right. I settled on the M&P because it felt the most natural to me and checked all the boxes, it was the gun i always grabbed every range session while others stayed home.

            Good luck, and have fun!

for p226 - try e2 grip or aluminum grip with skinny trigger.
for p229 - try e2 grip or aluminum grip with skinny trigger.

p225 & p239 are single stack if you want to consider.

If you’re able to try a Browning Hi-power, that’ll be my recommendation.
2nd that others have mentioned is A CZ75, I’d go with the SA version with the thin aluminum grips w/ grip tape.

The Hi-Power with the standard grips was too wide for me. I bought a Hi-Power that had Spegel grips that totally transformed the pistol for me. Felt just a bit wider than a single stack. I love the pistol now.

Another vote for the Kahr CW-9---reasonably small, yet great slender grip---my wife loves hers and I have one too even though I have much larger hands, I'm good with it!

The thin grips are about 3.5mm thinner.
Makes the grips flatter, so really "feel" thinner.
                        Should help with reach.

I think of it as girth.

I had to install shorter grip screw bushings.
Only one was taken out with screw driver.

Give location and maybe another Calgunner can help out at the range.
Most prefer the standard vs. thin.

Hard to beat a 1911 with thin grips. You can also get a blank main spring housing and shave a little off it before checkering it. Depending on brand of 1911 frame, a little bit of blending, combined that with front strap checkering makes a very nice fit for small hands like kids.

                                I'd go for the PM9

I too recommend the Kahr PM9 for small hands like I have as well. I just picked one up recently and mine fits like a glove. In addition I put on a Pachmayer rubber grip and it fills the hand even more. Just be aware that the Kahr pistols are double action only which is what I prefer now.

Good luck on your final decision.
