    Colt refinishing

Does anybody know if Colt offers refinishing services?

I have a Series 70 combat commander in brushed nickle that has some scratches on it and frankly I know nothing about the finish or how to correct the imperfections.

I would only have it refinished if Colt offers the service unless somebody has a compelling reason why I should consider other choices.

I did check out the Colt site but didn't find anything that was able to answer my questions.

    Thoughts?

since it's brushed nickel why don't you use Flitz and buff it out.

Good point but the scratches are very deep and probably all of the way through the nickle.

        Thanks for the link Hawk

You can call up TechPlate in Anaheim. They do nickel plating.

Colt used several different types of Nickel on the series 70. You can have Colt refinish it but the Colt of today is not the same as it was back in the day.

I just refinished a series 70 that had the factory Electroplated Nickel on it.
We refinished it using our Cera-Plate which is a Electroless Nickel/Boron Nitride finish. Here is a picture

Yes, Colt does refinishing, but the bad news is that they apparently no longer do the nickel. Robar used to do an e-nickel refinish, and may still do so.

Do high polish as well, or only matte?
