Training pistol needs transferred thru ffl?

Before I jump and buy a training pistol (for spare parts) I thought I'd ask if it needs to be transferred thru a ffl or not.

Basically the firing pin is shortened, firing pin hole welded shut and chamber cut thru.

The ad says its C&R eligible so it probably means it will need the ffl transfer but I just want to be sure since it adds considerable $$$ to the price.

It sounds like no destructive mods have been done to the frame, which means it is still a firearm. Gonna have to use a FFL.

As above: being able to not fire a bullet isn’t the same as being demilled.

That's what I figured.

Wish I could buy just the parts. By the time i add shipping, tax, transfer fees it'll be close to what I paid for my fully functional one.
