    380 ACP for Medium game?

Underwood ammo has a 100gr 380 ACP hard cast flat nose and they are listing one possible use as hunting Large game and it shows a picture of a Moose. Seriously, who would hunt Moose with a 380?

I draw line at hunting elk and below with .380 ACP, anything larger is just inappropriate. Definitely would not hunt Cape buffalo or elephant with it, it would be to much to ask of .380 ACP.

I thought you were pulling our legs

Their website does suggest that larger game is what this load was designed for.

A bullet that generates some 295 lbs of energy sounds awfully light for something like moose or elk.

Does anybody even make a handgun with a long enough barrel and sight radius to take advantage of this?
      Strange.

I think they are smoking crack. That's the only explanation.
From their website 380 ACP +P 100 Grain Flat Nose description.
Hard cast flat nose bullets are non-expanding, powerfully penetrative bullets that are designed with your woods defense needs in mind; whether fending off wild hogs or black bears, the hard cast flat nose bullets are consistently effective in taking down any wild animals that you may encounter.

I have no beef with any fraternal members of the Loyal Order of Moose myself. A HiPoint TSS .380 carbine might be a fun varmint rifle....if you can afford the ammo.

They must firmly believe in "shot placement trumps all".

WHAT?!!! A bullet manufacturer making outrageous claims about the performance of their ammo? -Never!

"Hard cast flat nose" - we call them "wadcutters".

Don't overlook a small beretta for bear.

Shot plenty of Maine black bears with 380. I once lined up 2 of them over a pile of bait. Shot clean through both bears and they ran about 30 yards before they went +i+$ up!!!

Remind me to tell you about the 6 foot long King Salmon and 650 lb Halibut I caught in Alaska using 15 lb test line.

I use .380 Xtreme Preposterousators when hunting large land mammals. I do prefer my G42 over my LCP for the greater velocities achieved with the longer barrel. Oddly, my wife just asked me to up the limits on my life insurance policy as well.

.380acp is plenty enough gun for moose.

What has this world come to when the shooter doesn't have enough confidence to blast the biggest
Alaskan virtual moose with a PPK .380 on the computer screen 3 feet away?

I was stationed in Alaska in the 80s, and had friends who painted the sides of their farm animals, i.e. cow, horse, etc, so the big city dumb *****es from the lower 48 wouldn't mistake them for game. It's these same dumb-*****es that believe a 380 will keep them safe while hiking.
