question on pistols being passed down

I have 2 pistols that were given me. 1 from my dad who is still alive and 1 from my grandmother who is now deceased. My grandma who I was living with at the time new I wanted it and went and bought it to give to me. I know that it is ok to buy for a grandparent to grandchild or parent to child. I have read on here that I need to let the doj know that I have these two pistols.. I have had them since before 94 so I've had one for over 15 years. Do I need to do something here?

File the REPORT OF OPERATION OF LAW OR INTRA-FAMILIAL HANDGUN TRANSACTION form, found at http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/oplaw.pdf , according to the instructions on the 2nd page. A recent thread brought out that if the government finds out that you filed late only by virtue of your having filed, then you are OK.
