    CZ-75 Shadow 2 Problem

So I was dry firing my CZ Shadow 2 and all of the sudden I couldn’t rack the slide. I can cock the hammer manually, pull the trigger and hammer will fall as normal. I can also engage the ambi safety and it works as normal. Fortunately I can move the slide back just far enough to initiate disassembly. I remove the slide stop and the slide will not move forward! Craaaaapppp!!! So I remove the grips just to see if something could’ve possibly crawl or fall in there. Nothing seemed out of the norm. I shake it and listen if maybe something came loose. I search the internet for any article or post about CZ75 slide getting stuck. No luck, no hints, no lead.... So I get some tools and a better flashlight, but really clueless. I use a pick and see if the trigger bar can be moved, see if there’s something stuck between it and the slide. Rubber mallet time. Gentle taps to see if the slide will go to rear, nope! With slide stop removed apply gentle taps to see if top end will move forward, nope. Pulling the slide back lightly I tap with the mallet on the side of the slide and frame while slowly turning the gun sideways, upside down and so on. I was hoping whatever is stuck in there will fall out or fall back in place. And all of the sudden this falls out.

It's the right side safety plunger. Anyone else ever have this problem? I suppose if any CZ owners end up with similar problem I hope this post will help them.

Part looks good and not broken. I notice there is no spring on the right side. I check out some diagrams on line it seems the Shadow 2, TS don’t list a right side plunger spring, only for left side. So, I put light grease and reinstall. Hopefully it’ll stay put.

    Everything can break

I lost the front sight off of a Springfield 1911 during a night shoot

I remember my Glock 23 fell on the carpet and wondered if anything was broke.

I read on Brian Enos forum about similar problem with Shadow 2 and safety plunger. If I recall it correct-finally at CZ USA they found that frame had micro crack which leads to plunger walk away from its place. I will look for that thread, if I find, I will post link.

Ok, it is not Brian Enos forum, it is CZ forum and about TSO. Any way read it https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=101104.0

Get high magnification inspection glass and look very carefully under good light-if there is crack, you will find it. Regardless color, cracks are very visible.

Sorry about your troubles, I had a shadow 2. It came with a very out of spec barrel bushing. Was noticeable just by visual inspection it was very incorrectly machined. I installed a cgw bushing and that pistol was very very accurate. I hope all works out for you

*** Palmaris *** its nothing of what you speak of. I understand there must be a gap at the top of the slide cut / bushing and the cut varies depending on how much that barrel tilts obviously. More tilt more clearance needed for angle increase. This was a machining process fault (i am a engine builder) the center line was not held when the plunge cut was performed (for the "tilt") and they obviously index off of this cut because the centerline cut was off also. Off as in .014 off center (true center). The slide was cut absolutely perfect in its centerline cut as it receives the "indexed bushing". The pistol did not come with a test target and the rear sight and front sight were dead center with the center line of the slide. The pistol was locking up hard on the rear left side of the barrel and it is not supposed to as cz is fitted to the ejection side of the slide as thisis the side extractor tension will be applied to the case once a round is in the chamber (how ed brown locks up his 1911"s) Cgw bushing shot dead center tested at 100 yards with all sights centered on the slide. The cgw bushing fixed the gun. Accuracy (precision) is of my up most priority. Hope that helps. Sorry about wall of text.

My Shadow 2’s barrel has a very slight vertical wiggle in the bushing. Bushing seems we’ll centered. I’m still testing the accuracy and it’s very acceptable. I may switch to a match bushing later.

Shot about 80 rounds through it and it didn’t miss a beat.
