Delimma: SA TLR Operator or Kimber Tactical Entry II

    or

My last post was between the Sig and the SA...decided to go with the SA...then I was crusing Kimber's site and found their TE II. Need help deciding.

    Both about same price.

    SA. MIM = No thanks.

Kimber makes very nice pistols, certainly nicer than some of the lower end SAs. In my honest opinion, the SA TRP Operator is the best production gun on the market bar-none.

SA TRP ..with the full rail if you can find one. Sweet shooting gun and holds it's value very well to boot.

TRP over the Kimber all the way! The full rails are tuff to find and dont see those too often for sale. The Springfield TRP is a great gun. Aggressive front strap checkering, bull barrel, cool g10 grips, adjustable night sights etc....The black armory kote is a great finish...+1 for sure. I have shot both of those guns and personally would pick the SA. Lifetime warranty too.

All springfields for me. have four trp operators..tells you how good they are. only kimbers IMO worth owning is the super match and CPD they are the one and only I own and let me tell you I probly have owned every Kimber there is and had problems with most. Great customer service for both companies. Only thing that bugs me about springfield is the fact some guns are made in Brazil. The Trp's are made in america 100%

This may come as a surprise, but modern MIM is pretty darned good, and even used by places like STI in their full race guns. If they're gonna prematurely break (rare) then they tend to do it very early in their life. Funny, milled parts do that, too...

As for the decision between this Kimber or SA, I say go with the SA. I handled one and really liked the heft and finish. The fit was pretty good as well. In reality, you really can't go wrong with either.

No, it's not a surprise, and I agree that you can't go wrong with either. I just prefer SA.

Springfields also come with MIM, so that's a moot point. Springfield's shine in the sense that they lack a Schwartz or S80 firing pin safety, the ILS can easily be swapped out.

I think the TRP would be my choice as well, but seriously, the Kimber is no slouch. I do like how this model comes with a steel frame as well unlike the rest of the Kimber Tactical family.

Flip a coin, both companies make great 1911s.

Apparently SA has a military/LEO pricing program. Makes the TRP cheaper than the MSRP of the Kimber. Nice.

Had the same decision to make a while back. I chose the Kimber TLE/RL. Its 100% reliable, never one problem in almost 1500 rounds. I didnt like the adjustable sights. As for the series II safety, non issue. A few people had problems with them a while back but not so much anymore. The TRP does have a bit more heft to it for some reason. The 20 LPI checkering bites into your hand pretty good, the 30 LPI on the Kimber is much more comfortably IMO..

Glad to hear that. I like supporting companies that offer that.

I have a Kimber, and love it, but my next gun is the MC Operator. (I like the MC over the TRP)
