Springfield Full Rail TRP operator - worked over

I received this Full Rail TRP operator in my shop to have some mechanical improvements done. The gun was not reliable when it came in so the first order of business was a reliability package. Also the customer wanted a second extractor fit and tuned to the gun. The second extractor used was a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof extractor.

Then the customer wanted a trigger job done with full upgrade of internal parts and a flat faced trigger. I started with a Cylinder and Slide Ultra Lite set, changed the Mainspring and replaced the ILS parts with traditional MSH parts. The trigger was tuned to 3 lbs. Many think the C&S kits are drop in, I can assure you they are not.

Lastly I took the OEM barrel and cut it flush to the slide then crowned it with a 45 degree crown.

Some of you may have seen this thread, it discusses the dimensional issues with this gun, which is why it was having reliability issues. The important dimensions have now been corrected and the gun runs like a top as it should.

    Outstanding, Sir!

Your reputation for excellence continues to grow.

I always regret the need for it, but I am thankful for it.

While the ramp on this gun was not short, which is usually a major cause of feeding issue. It was however oddly narrow, so I decided to machine it anyhow. The barrel was then throated as it had the normal sharp edge that most factory barrels have. You can see better pics of this in the other thread I linked in the first post.

The customer also wanted a flush cut and reverse crown. This is showing you the barrel before and the process involved. I first machined it to flush in the lathe and then crowned it, also in the lathe. A barrel is on an angle in the 1911 slide so it will usually sit a bit proud in the top and a bit recessed in the bottom once flush cut.

Mind sharing what a job like this would cost? Not looking to hold you to an exact quote, but fairly new to the 1911 gunsmithing game.

                              Outstanding final product, btw!
