walther p22-pink camo. Is it legal here?

I would like to get my wife the p22 in pink camo for our 6yr anniversary. I am getting conflicting info from the sellers(out of state), the transfer dealers, and the DOJ themselves.
Transfer dealers say its ok as long as the barrel is pinned(not interchangable). The DOJ says no because its a different color, but I could buy one from someone if they moved here with it.

Does anyone know the real deal?

I would go with what the DOJ says. They are the ones who can bust you, not the transfer dealers.

Out of curiosity, if a person purchased a handgun through a CA FFL, the DROS goes through, the buyer received the handgun and it was later discovered to not be "exactly" on the safe list what happens? Does the buyer get busted, the dealer?

I would avoid bring in this gun to Cali just to be on the safe side.. DOJ's list is pretty specific on colors. IE: two tone is not to be confused w/ reverse two tone etc. Besides, DOJ had already told you "no", so why set youself up for headache down the road ? Just my two cents..

These are all the listed approved models:
                  P22CA (Black) / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 3.42" .22 LR 9/20/2009

                  P22CA (Brushed Chrome) / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 3.42" .22 LR 1/31/2010

                  P22CA (Nickel) / Polymer, Alloy Steel Pistol 5" .22 LR 5/2/2010

                  P22CA (Nickel) / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 3.42" .22 LR 6/21/2010

                  P22CA / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 5" .22 LR 9/22/2009

                  P22CA Military / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 5" .22 LR 5/2/2010

                  P22CA Military / Polymer, Alloy, Steel Pistol 3.42" .22 LR 5/2/2010
No Camo or Pink camo mentioned. Thus it is not importable. The dealers are also worried about the whole threaded barrel issue which is irrelevant to the roster ordeal.

Like I said over on THR, you can buy the base model, and have it painted with one of the kits to just about any color you want.

ETA: Welcome to Calguns. Hope you like it here.

if that color isn't on the cali hand gun list you CANNOT purchase the firearm from a dealer, only private party.

If someone moves into the state with the gun or if your direct family purchases the gun in another state and gifts it to you after making the changes to the barrel to make it cali legal its all good.

you could always get a normal one and have it re-finished?!?

I don't see why nobody has mentioned this yet, but you can get the pink Sig Mosquito.

                          she didn't want the sig.

I thought it was illegal to have a family member purchase it and then transfer it to me(in cali). If that's not the case then problem solved, but it doesn't sound legal.

go to the 2nd Amendment forum and look at the inter-familial transfer stuff. it will explain everything.

By far the best info I have been given.

                              Now I have another question.
`If an interfamial transfer is completed(legally) the off list handgun is now in california legally. Can the owner of the legally interfamial transfered handgun now sell the gun?
