Springfield XD Final Form: Freedomsmith trigger

I've done dremel work to create a trigger guard undercut and reduce beaver tail thickness, and also contoured it, to get a better grip (medium hands, short fingers).

I've been developing/training my shooting skills and have noticed a big improvement over the past year, but I'm still hitting slightly to the right on quick shots (one second or less, with most less than one second). I think it's due to how my finger reaches the trigger.

I installed the Freedomsmith flat face trigger (fat daddy trigger).

I've never done a trigger install before. I used a youtube disassembly/re-assembly video, and just paid attention to the trigger sections.

This took about 40 minutes, which includes cleaning the exposed and removed internals...probably 15-20m without cleaning and first time learning.

    * I compared a stock service model XD to the tactical model (4" barrel vs 5" and guide rod style are the only differences*

I measured the distance using the calipers to depress the trigger safety. It was consistently around 2mm shorter. I dont have a gauge, but the trigger pull feels about the same weight as stock. It is noticeably smoother and now its crisp.

Hopefully this helps someone out. Our options are very limited in California, and we miss out on all the new inclusive gun models that are designed to fit a wider range of body types.

Clearly the current legislation is ok with body shaming and using finger privilege. If they allow more diversity, we could make California great again.

I love my XD's. Great pistols! I've got small girly hands and tried some Talon grips. It changed the thickness of the grip too much. Didn't like it, so off they came.

I used the dremel to sand down all the grip texturing. Now the thickness of the Talon grips is what the stock frame is. I thought about sanding down more, but I think I may end up with a laser stippling job.
