    My Next Revolver

My ideal next revolver will hold 6 rounds of 38 sp or 357 magnum either option works for me). It should have a 3 inch barrel. I plan to (rarely) carry concealed when I happen to be in a place where I can use my UT CCW. So although weight's not super critical to me, I don't want a 36 ounce gun either.

I wish there was a search engine that I could input all these parameters in and out would pop all the CA legal models I can purchase but I've never found such a site.

So I'm hoping I could count on the CalGunners to help me out. I do have a few ideas... I would prefer a hammer (and yes I know a concealed gun is supposed to be hammerless but realistically I won't get to carry concealed very often). S&W seems to have several models, as does Ruger. Colt is another (new) option that just got added to the roster. Any specific suggestions?

    Much obliged!

    S&W 66 combat revolver 2.75" Bbl.
    Nice shooter, very well balanced.

      Try this one:

I'm a revolver guy myself, partly because I reload, but also I just like the old-school aesthetic of them over autoloaders.

While the LCR series' polymer construction and odd looks might be somewhat off-putting to people used to Smiths and Colts and such, the LCRs I've handled had fantastic DA triggers. Very, very smooth, rivalling a tuned Smith in that regard.

The LCRx seems to combine the nice DA trigger pull with a slightly longer barrel, as well as an exposed hammer should you want to use it for informal plinking at the range. Its polymer construction also keeps weight down if CCW is a consideration. I think it's a fascinating gun and wouldn't mind having one myself.

I've had a Kimber k6s in 2" since they first came out. It's my edc and has the finest DA trigger of any revolver I've ever owned, including my Smith 66. That said, it's DAO (although they are making a SA/DA model), and msrp is around $8/900 or so. There is a 3" model on the roster now, and I have just about made up my mind to get one.

Wait for Ruger to add a 3” barrel to their .327 LCRx line. Or see if Taurus add their 865 line to roster.

I’m not sold on the Kimber K6 yet, not sure why.

Other than that I second the S&W 66 combat.

Anyone and everyone's next revolver should be a single action in .44 Special, with handloads consisting of a 250 grain LSWC over 7.5 - 8.0 grains Unique for +/- 1000 fps from 4-5/8" and 5-1/2" barrels.

            But, I digress.

Heavy .44 Special: not everyone "gets it". Ballistically it's roughly half way between .45 Auto and .44 Magnum, but with a heavier bullet.

                      Agreed I have Kimber K6s 3", I can shoot 90 yard torso.
DA trigger is better than S&W L or N frame, as good as S&W K frame.

Good decision to go 3" tube. My personal favorite minimum length for a revolver. [emoji106]

I sold a bunch of guns last year and - for the first time in decades - have no DA revolvers. I'm more of a defensive shooter than a target shooter, so I decided to get a 2" Kimber K6s DAO since I'd prefer that to the 3" for carry. Eventually, I may also get an LCR/LCRx variant. If I bought today I'd get the 2" LCR in 38 Spl, again as a compact/lightweight carry option.

If carry was primary concern, I'd say go for a Ruger LCR or Kimber K6s 2". I have a couple of each and love mine.

But since you're not going to be carrying it a lot, I agree that a 3" barrel is a great choice for a .357/.38 revolver can double as a HD/range gun as well as a carry gun for some occasions.

I've never even held a LCRx that was posted above but it does intrigue me. Also, I would love to get a Kimber K6s 3" to go along with my two others. The trigger is amazing. They are expensive though.

                              S&W Model 69 2 3/4" 44 is in the mail.
Its a 5 shot, overlooked, but cool............

3" model 65 Lady Smith is also a solid choice.
If you can find one. Nice factory trigger on those.
Tough choice, as there are lots of good options.

Added....S&W PERFORMANCE CENTER Model 19 Carry Comp is on the roster..........
