    Tough Decision

Looking to purchase my first revolver and I've narrowed it down to either a 586 L-Comp or a 327 R8/TRR8 and maybe a 627 V-Comp.

I really like the bulletproof and simplicity design of the 586 and overall practicality (possible ccw). I've heard good things about the R8/TRR8 for its easy of handling but also heard some bad experiences as well. And I love the look of the V-comp but I just don't see it being useful in any situation.

If anyone can share their experiences with these revolvers would be very helpful. Thanks

I've had some experience with the TRR8 and I loved it. Seemed like a great gun and I hope to get one of my own some day.

I bought a 5" Performance Center 627, and if there's a pistol out there that's more fun to shoot, I wouldn't know what it is.

If you're in So Cal, you're welcome to try it.

How did it handle the 357 compared to a full steel frame?

              No, just cylinders 1, 3, 4, 7 & 8.

I've got an R8; it's been a great gun. No issues with mine but I have read reports of light primer strikes- in every case repaired by warranty.

I don't have a steel L frame to compare it to but it shoots similar to my Model 19. It's a real tack driver.

Thanks. There is also a model 19 carry comp. pretty much a smaller version of L-comp with 6 shot instead of 7. Is there a real size difference between the K and L?

I had a V Comp and sold it. Now own an R8.

The V Comp was a great looking revolver. A bit heavy but never really an issue.

To me, more of a fun range plinker though. Although my primary HD/bedside gun is a 1911, I think the R8 would be a great option as well. Can't go wrong with 8 shots of .357 mag. I love my R8-- I think it would be nice to put some type of RMR on it but I just use the stock sights so far and they are good for me.

R8 is just a great all around revolver. I've had a 4" 686 for years that I love to shoot and always in my range bag, but that extra inch of the barrel helps a bit w the R8 on accuracy-- I think can't go wrong with R8-- it looks great and shoots great as well.

I really love mine. Type of gun you know never going to sell and will serve you well whether it's range fun or possible HD role.

Thanks for the comments. Any real reason why you both did not go with a TRR8?

Steel frame is way better than the scandium or other light weight metals

I have the TRR8, and if you want rails go for it, if not that is the only reason to get it

I have the TRR8 with an RMR on top and it is fantastic to shoot, really fun.
Weirdest thing about these big alloy revolvers is how light they are for an N frame.
